The Honda Indy Toronto, Ontario's largest annual sporting event, takes place from July 8 to 10 on the streets surrounding Exhibition Place near Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto. With 25 years of Indy car racing history in Toronto, the Honda Indy Toronto is among the most respected motorsports events in North America and features a week-long festival-like atmosphere that includes the fastest racing series on the planet, celebrity athletes, live entertainment and interactive activities.

Dan Aykroyd will serve as Grand Marshal to its 2011 event, "I'm delighted to be a part of an event with so much history," said Aykroyd. "I'm a long-time race fan and very proud to be Canadian. It'll be nice to come home and take in a spectacular day of racing."

The Streets of Toronto is a temporary street circuit measuring a distance of 2.84 km long (1.765 miles), with 11 turns surrounding Exhibition Place, a unique site situated along the shores of Lake Ontario immediately west of downtown Toronto. It has been constructed using 1,000 steel-reinforced concrete barriers, with a total length that will span 12,000 feet, made using 8,650,000 pounds of concrete. 1,200 fence sections will be used, with a total length that will span 14,000 feet, made using 410,000 pounds of steel, and 1,600 feet of tire wall, five tires high.

The circuit offers great views of downtown Toronto, is tight and has led to cars attempting to squeeze past each other in turns. Many times, only one makes it out unscathed. A long frontstretch leading into the Turn 1 Princes Gate, a hard right-hander, is a great place for overtaking.
