The IZOD IndyCar Series Final in Sin City
Oct 13th 2011It's here, the final race, the end of the season. There couldn't be more excitment in the air. Vegas creates the perfect atmosphere to welcome a series champion, and celebrate the end the 2011 series of extreme challenge for all of the drivers. The end of the 'Rookie' year for the new eleven, who now have some serious driving and experience to add to thier credentials.
The race, taking place on the 1.5-mile, variably-banked oval, will see the winner walk away with an impressive million dollar bonus. The race is flanked either side with events leading up to, and celebrations after. The scheduele rolls from Wednesday through to Monday. It is a truely packed, nearly week long celebration of IndyCar!

There is so much going on for this Championship. The Sunday race guest is action sports star and entrepreneur Tony Hawk, who will serve as the grand marshal for the Las Vegas Indy 300.
"I think it's a fantastic fit," INDYCAR CEO Randy Bernard said. "This is a great market for it. The entertainment, the resort destination, the lifestyle. We want to make sure our last event is in a great market, where we can really build upon the brand. I think Las Vegas will be an awesome place for us."
The past five championship duels have come down to the final race. It will be the first time that Las Vegas Motor Speedway will play host to the title race.,/p>
"Las Vegas Motor Speedway has produced thrilling open-wheel races in the past, and the return of the IZOD IndyCar Series for its season-ending event is sure to provide more thrills in October," said Chris Powell, president of LVMS. "We know there's a huge fan base of IndyCar fans in the western United States. Hosting the season finale, and the media attention it generates, gives our speedway and our city another opportunity to showcase so much that Las Vegas has to offer."
ABC will broadcast the 200-lap IZOD IndyCar Series finale at 3:00 p.m. (ET).
