Race Report 2 - Brands Hatch Round 7 Formula 3 Euroseries
01/09/2008James Jakes came away from his home race in the F3 Euro Series disappointed to miss out on valuable championship points.
The British driver, who had qualified in the top five, was set for a fifth place finish in race one before he was taken out by his team-mate. That relegated him to the back of the field to race two, while he would have been in contention for a podium in race two due to the reverse grid rule had he made the top five.
"It's disappointing because it's another weekend where we were in good shape," said James. "We clearly had the pace – we were challenging at the front in the first race – so we would have definitely been in the hunt for a podium in the second one.
"I made up a few places at the start of the second race, but after that it was difficult to do any more at this track because overtaking is so hard."
James will now turn his attention to the next round of the series at Barcelona, where he will be looking to turn his season around.
"I'm looking forward to Barcelona, I like the track and we were quick there last year," he said. "I just hope that we can get the results that our pace deserves though, because we've had so many weekends where we've had front-running pace and something has gone wrong."
